| I am an American, can I be an aupair in Ireland? |
Americans do not require a visa to enter Ireland. However access to the country |
does not entitle a person to work In Ireland. All non European Union (EU) |
passport holders require a work permit if they wish to work. This is very |
difficult to obtain. Strictly speaking the Irish authorities considers an |
aupair to be a worker, however as many young people go to Ireland to be |
students, an aupair can enter into informal arrangements with a family where |
food, lodging and pocket money is given in return for help around the |
house and babysitting. |
