Nanny jobs in BOLIQUEIME Portugal:
I am single and 39 years old and have brought up
Ruby on my own
since she was born. Our relationship with her
father is very
good but since he lives in Sweden our contact is
quite limited
altho he tries to visit as often as he can.
I am a sculptor who works from home but sometimes
I have to work
on site for certain commissions. I am also a web
designer so I
do a lot of work at night when Ruby is asleep.
Once a week, my
mother who lives about 20 mins away, will look
after Ruby for the
day. And sometimes a friend will do the same when
my work load
gets too demanding - but mainly I look after Ruby
in the day and
work at night till about three am. But as I look
after her most
of the time, by the end of the week I am usually
exhausted hence
my search for a mother's help!
This also means that my main failing is to keep on
top of the
laundry and general house cleaning.
Ruby has quite a lot of friends and once or twice
a week one or
other of them comes to visit with their mothers.
We are a very
relaxed and happy crowd and all the children tend
to be of
similar ages.
Ruby is a very good tempered child who likes a lot
of physical
activity but equally is at the age now when she
can concentrate
for longer periods on reading, listening and art based
activities. She loves swimming, painting and
playing with puzzles as well as
listening to music and dancing. All of which I
quite enjoy too
fortunately. We spend quite a lot of time at home
but tend to
visit friends at the weekend and as mentioned
earlier we go to a
local play group two mornings a week.
We live in a little country house set within
almond orchards in a
pretty, rural and (thankfully) undeveloped part of
the Algarve
coast of Portugal. There are some nice walks
around here our
neighbours are friendly, country folk who tend to
grow their own
vegetables etc. Chickens, dogs and goats are in
abundance.
We tend to eat quite healthily with the emphasis
on organic
vegetables and fish. And if not organic then at
least lots of
good quality fruit and veg. We were vegetarians
but lapsed on
arrival here because of the impossible to refuse
Piri Piri
chicken. I'm pretty strict with Ruby's diet and
avoid giving her
sugar or refined foods but she's become quite
adept at cajoling
lollipops out of shop keepers etc!
I would describe the atmosphere in our home as
very happy and
relaxed with bouts of total chaos when I'm working
all hours to
meet a deadline. Character-wise I am pretty open
minded and
flexible. I am also fair minded and straight
forward. I think
keeping lines of communication clear is crucial in
maintaining a
balanced relationships on all levels. In the case of
employer/employee this must be a two way street
with both parties
being able to express what they think without fear of
condemnation. Without that freedom all is lost.
That is not to
say there shouldn't be clear guide lines set at
the outset
determining what parts we are both to play. But I
would hope
that whoever the individual is that comes to share
our life for a
while will be able to work this out with us along
the lines of an
equal and responsible partnership rather than a
power based
relationship. (I hope that doeasn't sound too New
Age kooky!).
And that's about it really.....
I would like someone who'd be
prepared to work at least four
full days a week. Those days
can be flexible to suit us
both. Duties would include
taking Ruby (my daughter) to
her play group twice a week
and occasional visits to her
friends. Playing with her
constructively in terms of
painting and reading etc.
Going to the seaside and going
for walks. Occasionally
preparing breakfast, lunch or
an evening meal. Sometimes
giving her a bath and putting
her to bed. Helping with the
laundry and generally helping
me to keep the house from
descending into the chaos that
a two year old easily generates!
